Proofs Required from Victims
Victims of helpline fraud should collect the following evidence to report the incident:
- Screenshots or Recordings of Communication: Save any text messages, emails, or recordings of the phone calls with the fraudster, including requests for payment or sensitive details.
- Transaction Records: Keep records of any payments made to the fraudulent helpline, including bank statements, receipts, or screenshots of the transactions.
- Contact Details: Retain any contact information shared by the scammer, including phone numbers, email addresses, or fake website URLs. This can help trace the fraudster.
- Screenshots of Fake Helpline Websites or Apps: If the scam involved a fake helpline website or app, take screenshots to report the fraudulent platform.
