Steps of the Fraud:
- Initial Contact:
- A 75-year-old woman was approached by individuals claiming to represent “Hem Securities,” offering high-return stock trading opportunities.
- Investment and Commission Payments:
- Convinced by the promised returns, she invested approximately ₹2 crore and paid an additional 15% as commission to the fraudsters.
- Attempted Withdrawal and Realization of Fraud:
- Upon attempting to withdraw her investment, she found herself unable to contact the fraudsters, realizing she had been duped.
- Legal Recourse:
- The victim reported the incident to the cybercrime helpline and filed a complaint with the East CEN Crime Police.
