Do and Don’ts
- Tip 1: Never Share Your UPI PIN or OTP No legitimate service will ever ask for your UPI PIN, OTP, or any sensitive banking details over the phone or through a message. If someone asks for these, it’s almost certainly a scam.
- Tip 2: Verify All Requests Always verify any requests for money, especially if they come via phone calls, messages, or unsolicited emails. If someone claims to be a friend or family member, contact them directly using known numbers to confirm the request.
- Tip 3: Don’t Trust Unsolicited Links Avoid clicking on links sent to you via email, text, or phone calls, especially if they claim to be from your bank or UPI service. Fraudsters often use these links to steal your personal information.
- Tip 4: Use Two-Factor Authentication Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your UPI account and other banking apps to provide an extra layer of security against unauthorized access.
- Tip 5: Set a Strong UPI PIN Ensure your UPI PIN is strong and unique. Avoid using simple or commonly known PINs, such as your birth year or easy-to-guess combinations.
- Tip 6: Report Fraud Immediately If you suspect fraud or have fallen victim to a scam, report it immediately to your bank, UPI platform, or the relevant authorities. Quick reporting increases the chances of freezing the transaction or tracking the fraudster.
