Proofs Required from Victims
Victims of matrimonial fraud should gather the following evidence to report the scam:
- Screenshots of Communications: Retain copies of all communications, such as messages, emails, or chats, exchanged with the fraudster. This can help investigators track the fraudster’s actions and build a case.
- Photos or Profiles Used by the Fraudster: Keep copies of the profile or images the fraudster used, as these can be helpful for identifying fake or stolen photos used in the scam.
- Financial Transactions: Provide bank statements, payment receipts, or transaction records that show any money sent to the fraudster.
- Personal Information Shared: Keep a record of any personal information shared with the fraudster, including any documents or forms they requested.
- Communication with Matrimonial Websites: If the scam originated from a matrimonial website, report the fraud to the platform and provide them with any relevant information (such as usernames, messages, or email addresses).
