Steps of the Fraud:
- Creation of Fake Websites: A gang developed fraudulent e-commerce sites mimicking legitimate platforms, complete with attractive deals and discounts.
- Promotion via Social Media: They advertised these fake sites through social media channels, luring unsuspecting customers with unbeatable offers.
- Collection of Payments: Customers, enticed by the deals, placed orders and made payments through these fraudulent platforms.
- Non-Delivery of Products: After receiving payments, the fraudsters failed to deliver the purchased items, leaving customers empty-handed.
- Investigation and Arrests: Following multiple complaints, the police investigated and arrested two individuals involved in the scam, uncovering transactions worth over ₹25 lakh from 15 victims.
